When I joined this board over a year ago, I had 6 dolls--now I have 15, and I'm not quite done yet!

If not for this board, I probably would have stopped at about 8, but you guys let me know that it's OK to have as many dolls as you want. (And that it's NORMAL to want AG dolls!)

I haven't bought any dolls that I don't want, but I HAVE grown to want dolls that I wasn't interested in earlier.

I can credit certain individual board members' pictures for being responsible for my wanting certain dolls--but it was MY decision to buy them, and I enjoy having them in my collection. [img]graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

I can also credit the board for information on fixing-up "fixer-uppers", and being able to connect with other members to "fix-up" their dollies, thus providing a way to help supplement my "dollie fund"---an invaluable resource! Thanks, board!

So yes, this board is enabling--but for me, it's enabling in a good way. I LIKE being able!!

    This board is TERRIBLY enabling

Before I had joined, I had seen Jess on the AG website, and wasn't all that impressed. Now, thanks to everyone's posts and pictures I NEEEEEEED her.

Before I joined, I wasn't all that enthusiastic about my Samantha doll and her collection. After seeing everyone's albums I've realized that you don't have to be limited to the historic collection, or the clothes AG offers. You guys have dolls with some very creative backgrounds - and I am so inspired by all the lovely aftermarket and homemade clothes. My imagination is the limit!

This board has helped me to accept and love my doll as well. Seeing all the eras of Samantha has shown me that there's no one "best" version out there. They are all lovely dolls, and I have better use for my money than trying to recapture my childhood by blowing $200+ on a mint-condition white-bodied Sam. My Sam is wearing the cutiest tank top, hoodie, skirt and tennis shoe combo right now, and if I replaced her I wouldn't be able to have that freedom with her wardrobe.

Last (but not least), some of you have posted albums with Gotz "Little Sisters" dolls in your collection. Oh my goodness! they are so cute - I had never heard of them before but I knew I needed one. So last night I bought the most adorable Katie (name to change shortly) and she'll be arriving sometime next week! Yay~!

Speaking on enabling, Dee, it is your avatar that pushed me over the edge with my need for Lindsey. I wanted Lindsey. I was willing to pay a lot for Lindsey. Then I saw your Lindsey with those fabulous ponytails and it was all over-- I had to have Lindsey immediately, no matter what it cost.

But I don't think of that as enabling so much as spreading joy. I adore my Lindsey and she was worth every penny.

    So, thank you!

    VERY!!!

But in a nice sort of way!

When I joined HB we only had one doll. I had tucked away a lot of books, outfits and accessories, but only one doll.

We now have 3 that DD knows about. One precious girl is sleeping in my closet, AGOT #23 is on the way! AND...Emily will be coming for DD's Bday and Molly for Christmas.

    I'm loving it!

I know what you mean...here I am sitting in the UK, getting ready to go to London tomorrow, and all I can think about is PLEASE DON'T BE RID OF MOLLY'S RETIRING ITEMS BEFORE I CAN GET HOME, AG!!!

So, yes - it's TERRIBLY, WONDERFULLY ENABLING!

It is a very enabling board. Two days after I joined, I was getting an AGT #10 off of eBay. And after looking through other member's albums, I'm finding it harder and harder to wait a few more months to get Jess. =P I'm falling under the spell!

Very! I never thought I'd have this many-and I just ordered #14! Personally, AG pictures don't do her ANY justice. I fell in love with her with the board pics though.
